In praise of single-mindedness

Here at Kita, carbon insurance is what we do.

In fact, it’s all we do.

We don’t dabble in contents insurance. Don’t come to us for a travel insurance quote. And we haven’t a clue about life insurance.

We have one area of specialism and we are committed to it. We intend to build up a company that offers tailored insurance products to all parties - buyers, traders, sellers - across the carbon credit market.

Ambitious? Yes. But also streamlined and focused and specific.

You see, we came together as part of a venture builder that was solely focused on the climate emergency. Carbon13 accepts potential founders not on the basis of how much money they’re going to generate or whether their idea is zeitgeist-y enough, but on one single requirement: can the venture reduce emissions by 10 million tonnes?

We knew going into this that each co-founder had the same mission and so Kita stems from a single-minded commitment to the environment and to doing something tangible and effective to combat climate crisis.

And for us, it’s insurance. By keeping our brief laser-focused, we can offer you policies that are rooted in research, constantly re-calibrated as we acquire new data and based on the expertise that we and our partners pride ourselves on. And as insurance becomes the norm for carbon credit transactions, the more confidence can be generated in the sector, leading to investment, an increase in carbon-removal projects and an even more robust carbon market. By scaling up the carbon removal sector at pace, we know we can smash the initial 10 million tonne target that brought us together as Kita and aim for even more sizeable reductions.

So for Kita, a clear aim and an unwavering approach is the obvious way to go about business. And our first product, Carbon Purchase Protection Insurance, aimed at carbon credit buyers, is launching in January 2023. If you’re a company with a net zero target and you are interested in a policy from a team that knows what it’s talking about when it comes to carbon insurance, drop us a line for more details.
